1) What is the Phi
Delta Theta Lecture series?
Or why do you sometimes see fliers for lectures to be held at
Phi Delta Theta?
|
|
1)It's about scholarship:
Our fraternity chapter is committed to enriching the community
of students here at the University of Chicago by hosting lectures
given by our most noted professors at the University. In fact, one
of our most important members of the fraternity chapter is our Scholarship
chairman, who coordinates these regular events. |
2) Does Phi Delta
Theta sponsor community service programs?
Certainly! We strive in all ways to engage with our neighborhood
and give back to the community. |
|
2) The Foundation
for Hospital Art:
The Foundation for Hospital Art is a nonprofit organization dedicated
to comforting patients in hospitals by softening the hospital environment
with colorful pre-drawn, color-coded paintings, murals and ceiling
tiles.

3) Why does Phi Delta
Theta raise money on a See-Saw?
We see-saw for 100 hours, rain or shine, to raise money in honor
of brother Lou Gehrig (Columbia '25). |
|
3) Lou Gehrig's Disease:
In July 1939, when the great Lou Gehrig stood before thousands
of fans in Yankee Stadium, weakened from the early symptoms of ALS,
he said "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the
earth." Lou Gehrig really meant that and his tears showed he
meant it. He had friends, family and a loving public to help him through
the last days of his life as the disease slowly destroyed him.
We compete for three awards, which are presented annually to the
chapter/brother who raises the most for the ALS Association. The commitment |
4) How else does Phi
Delta Theta give back to the community?
Good question! |
|
4) Support and Fun:
As a member of the greek community, Phi Delta Theta contributes
to campus-wide greek activities to foster an amicable relationship
with non-greek and greek students. In addition, Phi Delt strives to
maintain and grow the greek community on campus. |
